Tokugawa Art Museum Exhibit – Owari Tokugawa Family Treasures

徳川美術館展 尾張徳川家の至宝

A glorious collection of magnificent treasures, now on display in Osaka!

Tokugawa Yoshinao (1600 – 1650) was the ninth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, and founder of the Owari-Tokugawa Family. He was a great daimyo who took residence in Nagoya castle, and his family, along with the Kii-Tokugawa and Mito-Tokugawa formed the “Gosanke,” the Three Houses of the Tokugawa. This exhibit details the history of the Owari-Tokugawa family and highlights the elegance of daimyo culture through displays of items from the family’s treasures, including armor, swords, tea ceremony items, incense sets, Noh theater articles, traditional wedding items, paintings, writings, and more.
